Fletcher Group Founder To Speak At Inaugural Event

Fletcher Group Founder Dr. Ernie Fletcher will be a featured speaker at the inaugural Kentucky Opioid Summit June 24 in Lexington. Sponsored by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the convention will address the opioid crisis, particularly its impact on Kentucky’s workforce and how the business community should respond.

Fletcher, who served as Kentucky’s governor from 2003 to 2007, will reference the Recovery Kentucky Program he inaugurated as governor and the importance of meaningful employment during an individual’s recovery. A number of other dignitaries will speak.

The opening keynote will be given by Michael Botticelli, former Director of National Drug Policy and the current Executive Director of the Grayken Center for Addiction at the Boston Medical Center.

Sharon Walsh, Director of the Center on Drug and Alcohol Research (CDAR) at the University of Kentucky, will talk about policy-driven and scientific solutions needed to fight the epidemic.

Jenny Burke from the National Safety Council will talk about the cost of the opioid crisis to Kentucky businesses as well as strategies to successfully address substance abuse in the workplace.

Other speakers will include Van Ingram, Executive Director of the Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy, and NBA Broadcaster and University of Kentucky Basketball Pre-Game Radio Co-Host Rex Chapman.
